Post hoc comment, June 17th: Looking back over my work, I’ve settled on this painting to take to the group tutorial on July 10th along with the photographic overlay, the prose label, and the video.
Bad Sun Rising is based on this image which is a still from an animation in MotionLeap of one of my photographs. I used sky modifications in the animation and added swooping birds.

‘Bad sun rising’ got its name at the end of this process when I stood back and saw the story I had told. It reflects the size of the rising sun and the violence of the sky, and riffs on Bad Moon Rising by Credence Clearwater Revival (1969). It also harks back somewhat to The Three Body Problem in which the consequences of three large bodies orbiting around each other are catastrophic.
