Also suddenly finding a use for the piece of MDF that’s been hanging around since the Great Insulation of last Spring because I liked the shape. It has the look of an arched window and I fantasised about painting a magical scene of summer flowers and shrubs with some kind of frame.
Then I saw this:

I don’t know who to credit but the cat is doing something I’ve seen so often with my own. Inside out, upside down, spread marmalade thin on a shelf, all of that. So I imagineered a box no one in their right mind ever made and poured a cat I haven’t got into the middle of it where it spread out like ginger dough.
Round one.

28th October. I’ve been considering ears and where those might be in a box that shape. So, assuming a bit of a lip making it more like a vase than a hat box, I’m going to imagine there is slightly more room within the box than the open top suggests. This means I have some tricky jiggery pokery to execute that might suggest this. To help visualise the lip and the ears in the first instance, I printed out some copies of the last iteration and drew various versions of the solution. These are the two key solutions, one with ears indicated, the other with visible ears no longer necessary. The medium is charcoal.

The second version looks to me much more like a container, and the slight internal flattening top left of centre ‘explains’ the eyes. Somehow or other this cat has worked its way into a tin and sees me as responsible for that.

Eyes need to be yellow/green and there should be some indication of toes on those front feet. That’s for tomorrow.
